What happens when residents are given the opportunity to tell their own stories?

A powerful new exhibit featured by ABC7 provides an answer

Through TODCO’s Community Arts Program, including 6M Community Arts and the 6th on 7th Photography Workshop & Gallery, residents picked up cameras and documented the neighborhood they know best — not through headlines or stereotypes, but through their own experiences, relationships, and perspectives.

The photographs reveal moments of beauty, creativity, friendship, and everyday life. Together, they paint a portrait of community that is both deeply personal and profoundly universal.

For many participants, the project was about more than photography. It was an opportunity to develop new skills, express themselves creatively, and share a perspective that is too often missing from conversations about our city.
